Thermionic Prints - exhibited with Gallery 139, Newcastle 2016

These prints are developments of drawing ideas produced in 2015. They are multiplate etchings, mostly two plates using line and aquatint, spit biting. They are zinc plates printed on BFK or Velin Arches paper.

The works are based on thermionic valves or electron tubes and their parts. These forms derive from grids, diodes, filaments and other metal parts of these electronic devices. I am fascinated by simple metal forms with complex physical properties. I have a deep admiration for those who explored magnetism and electricity and discovered its properties through experimentation and deep thought.
