Paintings Drawings Prints gallery- exhibited at John Miller Gallery 2003

The works reflect the artist's wanderings in the city - gazing into glass enclosed marbled foyers, down dark alleys and across parks at midnight. There are several large oil paintings of the entrances of city buildings with revolving glass doors, which capture the flickering reflections, distortions of light, figures and spaces beyond the doors.

These works register the myriad reflections in glass windows and doorways, enmeshing in layers of paint the distorted images that flash behind and in front of the glass.

Also in the exhibition are small oil pastel drawings of nocturnal scenes, streetlights and parks at midnight, headlights of cars playing over shining streets. The pastels are built up in layers of marks and subtle colour.

These themes have also been developed in some multi-plate colour etchings and three large oilstick drawings, painterly in their intent fluidly registering the reflections and distortions of shop windows.
